VESA Introduces DisplayPort Dual-Mode 1.1 standard compatible with 4K HDMI (Ultra HD)
VESA gives computers the possibility to join the 4k dance like all television manufacturers and reduce cable clutter by introducing a new update to DisplayPort Dual-Mode.
This new 1.1 standard is compatible with HDMI 1.4a and supports all of the highest resolutions available: UltraHD (4k), 3D 1080p60 and 1080p deep color (read billions or more). You will, of course, need a new DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter once new graphic cards and devices will be available later this year.
As you might know, DisplayPort Dual-Mode can already drive up to 6 1080p60 screens or 4k but with this new standard, you will know have the possibility to drive HDMI 1.4 TVs with a single cable. And we’ll take anything that can reduce the number of cables running across all our devices, no?…
